Cytoarchitectonics of Pars opercularis of the Inferior Frontal Gyrus in the Korean Cerebral Hemisphere.

Abstract
Author studied on the cytoarchitectonics of the cerebral cortex in the Broca¢¥s center- pars opercularis of the inferior frontal gyrus of the 114(( 9 68, 6 46) Korean brains and summarized¢¥ the results as follows.
1. The thickness of the cerebral cortex in the Broca¢¥s center developed fully at age of 1115 years, and its averags values of the Korean adults were 2.297 mm in male, 2.298 mm in female.
It increased to the average value of the adult until the female brain was 1200 g weight and the male brain 1300 g weight, thereafter it was not related with brain weight.
2. The relative neuron density(numbers of the nerve cells in 100,u3 of cortical mass) of both sexes decreased to the average value of the adult at age of 25 years, thereafter it had a tendency to decrease slowly corresponding with increasing of age.
It decreassed to the average value of the adult when the brain weight was 9001099 g, thereafter it decreased very slowly without remarkable variations.
3. The relative glial density decreased to the average value of the adult at age of 610 years, and it was minimum at age of 1620 years, thereafter increased slowly corresponding with increasing of age.
The relative glial density decreased to the minimum in the female brain of 1200 g weight and in the male brain of 1300 g weight, thereafter it had no remarkable change.
The differences of the relative glial density in the infant and adult brains were very slightly and its variations in each cortical layer were not distinct.
The glia cells were numerous in the cortical layers which had abundant nerve cells.
4. No sexual difference and right-left-difference in the architectionics of the cortex in the Broca¢¥s center were recognized.
